Try Before You Buy (TBY) FAQ
What is the TBY Membership Program?
TBY is our unique membership program that allows you to shop risk-free in the comfort and convenience of your home for items that fit your taste, lifestyle and budget. With TBY, you select items you would like to try and we ship them to you for free. Create looks using your own scarves, shoes, jewelry and handbags, your closet is your dressing room. You only pay for what you like and return the rest. Shipping is free both ways. Never shop from a photo again!
Do I have to pay for TBY Membership?
No, the TBY membership is 100% free, you just need to fill out the TBY Personal Style Profile and Membership form to join. You will be notified by email once your membership is approved.
What is the Personal Style Profile?
The Personal Style Profile helps us understand your sense of style. We use that information as a guide to introduce you to certain styles that match your preferences. For example, if we know your preferred color is Classic Black, we may from time to time, send you information with new styles in that color. However, only you choose the items you wish to try and you are free to choose whatever items you like.
How many days do I have to try the clothing?
You have 3 days to decide what items you want to purchase. Your 3-day try-on period begins from the day the package is marked delivered by Fedex or USPS. You can confirm this by checking the tracking number in your update email or viewing delivery information on your order status page. You’re only charged for the items you tell us you are keeping. Use our prepaid return label and package to send back any items you wish to return. It’s that simple, but don't worry, we will send you friendly reminders along the way.
How do I let you know I want to keep my items?
Just send us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org or call us at 646.801.9195 and we will charge your card and send you a paid invoice via email. Your paid transaction will also show up in your purchase history when you log into your account. If we don't hear from you we will send you a final reminder at the end of your 3-day try-on period. You are always free to let us know your'e keeping an item before the 3-day try-on period ends.
Why do you need my credit card?
Fabulous question indeed! While the 3-day try-on and shipping are completely free, we require a credit card on file which we authorize for security purposes. That being said, you are only charged for abayas you decide to keep, if items are returned damaged or if you fail to return after your 3-day try-on period.
When will my credit card be charged?
When you place your order we need to validate your payment method so we submit a temporary authorization charge to confirm the credit card is valid. This charge usually falls off after a few hours. Your card is then only charged when you notify us of the items you wish to keep.
Are there any additional charges?
You are only charged the exact price for the items you choose to keep. For example, if the total price of your items is $180, that’s the amount you are charged, nothing more. Shipping charges are completely complimentary.
Is the TBY a subscription membership?
Not at all. TBY is not a subscription membership and there is no minimum number of items you have to order. Once your membership is activated, you can start shopping right away.
Is there a maximum number of items I can order on TBY?
Yes, currently, you are allowed to order a maximum of two (2) abayas on any one TBY order.
Can I wear the abayas outside?
TBY is designed for you to enjoy trying on the abayas in your home to see if you like the way they look on you and whether you like the fit. We encourage you to dance in the mirror, strut your stuff and be an all out diva. However, if you choose not to keep your abayas, please return them unworn, unwashed with tags attached and in good condition. We remind you of the beautiful hadith reported on the authority of Anas Ibn Malik where Rasool Allah, peace be upon him said "none of you truly believe until you want for your brother what you want for yourself" (Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī 13, Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 45). Remember, there is likely another sister waiting to try on that abaya so take good care of items you do not plan to keep. That being said, we reserve the right to charge you for damaged items.
Can I reorder if I have an outstanding TBY order?
We typically allow only one TBY order outstanding at a time. Once you have resolved your outstanding order, you are free to order again on TBY in 30 days. If you have a unique circumstance just email us at email@example.com or call us at 646.801.9195 and let us know what’s going on, we will try our best to help.
How do returns work?
You won't believe how easy this is: each TBY shipment includes a return envelope with a pre-paid label. Returns are due back in the mail 3 days after your shipment arrives. For example, if your shipment arrives on Monday, we ask that you drop off your return by Thursday. If the third day falls on a Sunday or holiday, please drop off your return on the following business day. You can drop off your return items in any USPS mailbox or Fedex location. If you have any questions about returns, please send us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org or call us at 646.801.9195. We try our best to respond to inquiries within 2 hours.
What if I am not able to send my shipment back within the 3-day?
Not a problem, we will send you reminders throughout your try-on period to ensure you stay on track. You will have plenty of opportunities to notify our team if your return will be delayed. We will try our best to work something out.
Are there penalties if I do not return my abayas after my 3-day try-on period?
We don't like the word penalty, but there is definitely a financial incentive for you to return any items that you don’t want within the 3-day try-on period. If your prepaid return label is not activated within the expected time frame and you have not notified us that your item will be delayed, we’ll assume that you are keeping all the abayas and charge you accordingly. If you return your abayas past the return date, you will receive store credit instead of a refund
What if I want to cancel my membership?
You can cancel your TBY membership at any time. Just send us an email at email@example.com or call us at 646.801.9195 and we will cancel your membership within 48 hrs. You will receive an email notification that your membership has been canceled and your name, address and card information will be deleted from our payment gateway. You always have the option of making immediate purchases from our site.
